Kura Teina

Year 1&2

Jade Deane - Team Leader

My heart has, and always will belong to Kawerau.  Children are such special taonga that deserve the very best. I endeavour to keep seeking the best for the children within my care, enabling them to see education as a stepping stone to endless possibilities.

Poipoia te kākano kia puāwai - nurture the seed and it will bloom.

Valerie Wineti - Kaiako

What motivates me to teach; is creating an atmosphere for Tamariki that captivates their interests, gives them the confidence to embrace learning, and inspires them to take advantage of all that school has to offer. I'm honoured to have the responsibility to ensure that all students have access to a quality education and a sense of belonging.

Kei te mohio koe ko wai koe, I anga mai koe i hea, kei te mohio koe, kei te anga atu ki hea - We know who we are, where we come from, and where we are going.

Hana Chase - Kaiako

Our tamariki are wonderful taonga that I look forward to helping along their road of learning and discovery.

Ma te kimi, ka kite, ma te kite ka mohio, Ma te mohio ka marama.  Seek and discover. Discover and know. Know and become enlightened.

Jessica Andrew - Kaiako

As a kaiako, I am passionate about our Localised Curriculum, Te Ao Māori and the Arts. I love learning about the rich pūrakau (stories) our Tūwharetoa iwi and Kawerau holds, and how we can use these pūrakau to engage our tamariki in all curriculum areas. While giving them a sense of belonging and connectedness.

I strive hard to ensure I am continually finding new ways and skills to support our tamariki to learn. Manaakitanga, whakawhanaungatanga and arohatanga are all values I hold close.

Kumea ki uta - Pull the tides to shore, strive for everything with great endeavour
