He ngākau nui ki te whai i te raumānukatanga o tōku Ao Māori, kōia hei takahanga mōku pō te ao, ao te pō.

He maringa nui nōku ki tēnei ūmanga, te whakaako tamariki. He wāriu nui tō te kura ki roto i te Ao o te tamaiti, ā, nōku, nō ngā kaiako te wā ki te āta poipoi, ki te āta penapena i te mana āhua ake ō ā tātou ākonga, me he kahukura te manu ka rere.

As a teacher, I aspire to provide our tamariki with a safe learning environment so that they feel confident to learn and speak their reo. To discover their potential and to grow, act and be who they are. 

In my classroom, you can expect to hear and see lots of waiata, kanikani, toi ataata, takaro and toi whakaari because they are my favourite ways to teach!

“Whakamanahia te tamaiti, kia tauaki ai te tū.” Empower the child so they may stand like Pūtauaki.

I believe it is imperative that all tauira in our Kura are presented with the same values, visions and hopes toward their respective future education choices and career pathways.   By bringing out their potential, allowing them to explore and have a voice, to fulfil their educational and social needs and to build upon their strengths and skills, the best we can. Frequent interaction with our kura whānau is important and valued, it is you, our whānau, who also guide us toward the educational success of our tamariki here at Kawerau South School.
